LISA McBRIDE’S LITTLE CORNER OF THE WORLD
I grew up in a family of seven children.
My Mother was a Sunday school teacher so we kids learned about Jesus at
an early age. Both of my parents
have passed on now and I miss them dearly. I
am a widow six years now; my, how time passes quickly.
I guess that was when I got to know the Lord; we had some good
heart-to-heart conversations. At the
time I was fortunate to have my church family, so I decided to put myself to
work serving the Lord. I was a
praise team leader and helped with hospitality, lawn maintenance, and snow
removal. I enjoyed every bit of the
time spent with the kids and especially with the older people of our church.
I grew spiritually and bonded with others.
I have since left that church (three years ago), but I still have contact
with some very special people who have stuck by me though thick and thin.
I thank God for them everyday.
I work for Catholic Charities where my job is to train
mentally ill adults the daily living skills needed for them to work and become
independent in the community. Most
of our people have depression, schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.
Most of these disorders stem from chemical imbalance to mental and
physical abuse. My heart goes out to
them for they are all God’s children. Every
chance I get, I tell them that Jesus really loves them and that when times get
rough, pray. Sometimes I get through
to them and other times I have at least planted the seed – then it is God’s
turn to help that seed grow.
I have been blessed with a new man in my life.
We have been together three years now and I love him with all my heart.
His name is Bill. Bill was
the one who introduced me to Southern Gospel Music.
His favorite group is the Kingdom Heirs.
We went to a concert in
Florida
, and since then I have fallen in love with the music, especially the words
which speak to your heart. The
singers are truly sincere in their journeys and their love for Jesus.
The Lord has truly blessed me again by bringing me to the church I now
attend. Bill and I have found a
great church family which has welcomed us there for the past three years.
I sing in the choir and I have a small music ministry in our sister
church the first and fourth Sundays of each month.
I enjoy singing the Lord’s praises and spreading His Word through
music. When I sing it comes from my
heart and when I finish a song and feel that tingly feeling I know it is right.
I know that eternity is mine as long as I have Jesus as my personal
Savior. That is why I am calling my
first project TRULY BLESSED – because my Father has truly blessed me with a
voice that I can give back to Him and use for His glory.
I hope that I can reach others with this gift so that everyone else will
know how Truly Blessed they will be once they accept Jesus as their personal
Lord and Savior. I look forward to
taking my music to different churches in order to spread His Word.
TRULY BLESSED
